Tips & Advice

So you’re getting married. Where do you start? As a wedding professional and as a married person, my advice to you is… RELAX. This is a party that is set up as a declaration for the person you love. Go for the extra frills and things to make the show personal, but do realize that the thing that matters is your happiness with your significant other. That is honestly all that matters.

Now that I have mentioned the mushy stuff lets get down to planning. You need a few things.

You need people to help you celebrate and are happy to celebrate with you.

You need a venue.

You need food.

You need a photographer.

You need entertainment for your family and friends. (D.J. Services from For the People Entertainment is preferred! :-))

LET’S OFFER SOME ADVICE!

You need people to help you celebrate and are happy to celebrate with you.

One hazard I’ve noticed in my experience performing as a D.J. is that sometimes we invite our family, but we may not know them as well because they are far away or we haven’t seen them since we were really too young to remember them. By all means, invite all of your family but be sure to get your more distant family members to break the ice early.  To help in this effort, FTP  has a lot of icebreaker ideas for dinner if you need them.  Invite your family for dinner and invite your actual nucleus of friends you go out with to the dancing part of the reception.   This saves money on dinner (Which can be the most expensive part of the night) and brings your friends that may not be so acclimated to your family into a less stuffy and more inviting part of the night. It also feels more full in the room to see even more people showing up to party with you. Know your family and get their input on song selections so they can feel that they had something to do with your wedding and your entertainer can have a base to work with. Your entertainer does not know your family, but he will be with them most. All the things you do to get your entertainer a better understanding of your family can only help the fun happen.

You need a venue.

Pretty halls with brand new fixtures and time limitations may restrict your night. Some hazards are making your D.J. play music more quietly towards the end of the night or restricting extras you may have purchased like a bubble machine or fog machine. Make certain your venue will accommodate your guests and set up crew with carts, friendly helpful staff, properly working electrical outlets, enough outlets, a willingness to allow you to set up your room that satisfies you and makes travel in and out of the room easy as possible for everyone. make sure you read the fine print on time allotted for your event and that all points of contention are discussed and resolved BEFORE your big day. No one wants to spend time arguing about extra “UNSEEN” expenses on their wedding day. Make sure it doesn’t happen to you!

You need food.

Catering is one of the most expensive parts of the night. Make sure the staff you employ is sanitary, affordable and offer what YOU want for yourself and your family. Be happy to get what you pay for.

You need a photographer.

You have invested in a great evening of dancing and dining, make sure that you have a great photographer that takes great pictures and has a personality that fits with your family. Your Photographer should be mindful about YOUR schedule. Your photographer should have good equipment and should be active in being instep with your wedding planner and your entertainer. (D.J.) You want more than just memories of your night you want great pictures and a good photographer should be able to quickly organize your family for the best photo opportunities and stay in line with your schedule of planned events.

You need Entertainment!!!!!
